Procession of the Equinox

by Twilight Fauna\\//Evergreen Refuge

/
1.
With flames I stand They twist and reach Pulled by winds White smoke in the trees Blossoms, blossoms cascade In transience, all remains the same With quiet sadness All things pass Dissolving to dust They slip from your grasp With shaky hands we reach Holding stars in our eyes Burning embers Under crescent skies
2.
In stillness the fog recedes The stars in silence remain Below the treeline in gloom My heart cries The fires we burn reveal shadows We mold and shape The equinox proceeds and cycles on With hope and darkness We cling to this wandering star Walking familiar paths How they change, they change On gravel roads, in dreams, there’s a place I wish to go. A place to call home. The chains that bind are all I leave behind. Believe me when I say I tried, on that dusty drive beneath the stars. There’s only so much that could be done. But on that dark night I saw eyes that shined as black as coal in the mountainside.

I am always dreaming of my little home Back among the hills of Tennessee I am always yearning, longing to return To the place that means the world to me Just a little shack roof all turning black Still it's a place there to me Song birds always singing round the kitchen door Of my little home in Tennessee I can see my mother standing by the gate As I drove the car up the lane She would never scold me when I came home late How I wish that I had never caused her pain Just a tender smile beaming all the while No one could be half so kind to me Now she's gone to Heaven and she'll never return To my little home in Tennessee I can still remember many years ago When my sweetheart wandered by my side Down among the mountains where wild flowers grow There she promised she would be my bride Then another man won her heart and hand She always meant the world to me I was broken hearted and I went away From my little home in Tennessee
